Squad ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

Email address
Profile photo

Session Information

Sport sessions you create or join
RSVP / participation status
Location information related to sessions (such as venue name, city, or meeting point provided by users). We do not use continuous GPS tracking or background location tracking.

Device & Technical Information

Device type and operating system
Push notification tokens
App usage and interaction data (analytics and performance monitoring, anonymized or aggregated where possible)

2. How We Use Your Information

Operate, maintain, and improve the Squad platform
Allow you to create, discover, and join sport sessions
Display your profile (name and photo) to other users in sessions you participate in
Send push notifications related to sessions (e.g., updates, reminders)
Provide customer support and respond to inquiries
Monitor app performance, stability, usage trends, and prevent abuse or misuse of the platform

3. Legal Basis for Processing (EEA / UK Users)

Contractual necessity: to provide the Squad service you use
Legitimate interests: to improve and secure the app, ensure platform stability, and prevent abuse
Consent: for optional features such as push notifications (where applicable)

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We only share information with trusted service providers ("processors") as necessary to operate and provide the Squad app:

Firebase (Google) — authentication, database, and storage
Expo — push notification delivery
Sentry — crash reporting and stability monitoring (configured to minimize personal data collection)

These providers may process data in countries outside your own, including the United States. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.

5. Data Retention

Account data: while your account remains active
Session data: retained as long as relevant to platform functionality and community activity
Analytics data: typically retained in aggregated or limited form for up to 24 months, unless anonymized earlier

6. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to: access your personal data, correct inaccurate data, request deletion of your data, object to or restrict certain processing, and request data portability (where applicable).

If you are located in the EEA or UK, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

7. Data Deletion

You may request deletion of your account and personal data at any time. We will process requests within a reasonable timeframe, typically within 30 days, subject to legal obligations.

8. Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit and access controls. However, no system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

9. Children

Squad is not intended for children under 13 years of age (or the applicable minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If we become aware that we have collected such data, we will delete it.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If changes are significant, we will notify you via the app or by email. The "Last updated" date at the top will always reflect the latest version.
