Squad ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
Account Information
Phone Number (optional)
If you add your phone number, we store it to verify it and, if you allow it, to let people who have your number in their contacts find you on Squad. Your number is never shown on your profile.
Contacts (optional)
If you choose to sync your contacts, the phone numbers in your address book are sent from your device to our servers only to check which of them belong to Squad users who allow being found by their number. These numbers are processed and immediately discarded; they are not stored. Contact names never leave your device.
Invitations
When you invite a contact, the text message is sent from your own device. We do not receive or store the recipient's number.
Guests
If you join a session without an account, we collect your first name, last name and email address to register your RSVP, show your name to the host, and send you a confirmation, reminders and updates about that session.
Session Information
Location
If you use the Nearby filter, your device's location is used on your device only, to show sessions near you. It is not sent to our servers or stored. We do not use continuous or background location tracking.
Device & Technical Information
We do not sell your personal data. We only share information with trusted service providers ("processors") as necessary to operate and provide the Squad app:
Other Squad users can see your name, profile photo, city, bio and the sessions you join. Your email address is used as your profile identifier: it appears in your profile link and is visible to other signed-in users. Your phone number is never shown to other users.
These providers may process data in countries outside your own, including the United States. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.
Depending on your location, you may have the right to: access your personal data, correct inaccurate data, request deletion of your data, object to or restrict certain processing, and request data portability (where applicable).
If you are located in the EEA or UK, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
You can remove your phone number, stop being findable by your number and turn off contact sync at any time in Settings > Contacts. You can revoke contacts or location access, and turn off notifications, in your device's Settings.
You can delete your account at any time in Settings > Delete account. This deletes your profile, phone number, RSVPs, follows and notifications, and cancels or deletes the sessions you created. Reports other users made about your account may be kept to keep the community safe. Guests, and anyone who cannot use the in-app option, can request deletion at support@squadsport.app; we process requests within 30 days, subject to legal obligations.
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit and access controls. However, no system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Squad is not intended for children under 13 years of age (or the applicable minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If we become aware that we have collected such data, we will delete it.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If changes are significant, we will notify you via the app or by email. The "Last updated" date at the top will always reflect the latest version.
